Anniversary celebrations at West Lothian Crematorium now online
West Lothian Crematorium enjoyed a double celebration and is now inviting anyone who could not attend to view the event online.
Earlier this month, the crematorium hosted a special event to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen as well as its own 12th anniversary.
A small gathering attended the event itself, but highlights are now available for everyone to view online.
West Lothian Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, tranquil places for people to visit and reflect.
Site Manager Carole Rae said: “It was a lovely, successful day.
“Our Crematorium Assistant, Lynn Williamson, is also an accredited celebrant, so she led the special service, with our gatekeeper Carol Blair reading a poem.
“One of our Funeral Directors, Robert Seivewright, was Standard Bearer for the day.”
The guest of honour was a local man called Bill Tilley, an 89-year-old who served in the military under both the Queen and her father.
Carole said: “Mr Tilley has been visiting our grounds several times a week since his wife passed away last year. He is a proud royalist and we thought he would be the perfect choice to lead our celebrations.
“After the service, he led us outside to officially cut the ribbons on our new communal memorial benches, which we have installed in honour of the Queen’s jubilee.
“After Mr Tilley cut the ribbons, we returned to the service room to cut our celebratory cake. It was a lovely, successful, and memorable day.”
